Hello Fredericton!! Bringing your baby home is a big transition—let’s make sure you feel ready for it. Join us for a supportive session focused on caring for your newborn in those early days, led by an experienced Maternity Nurse and supported by a Mental Health Professional.

This practical, hands-on class will help you feel calm, capable, and prepared for the early days at home. Led by expert Registered Nurses alongside a Mental Health Professional, this session combines essential newborn care skills with safety and emergency preparedness—while also exploring self-care, sleep, visitors, and setting boundaries, so you know what’s normal, what needs attention, and how to respond with confidence.

What We’ll Cover:

  • Meet Your Baby:
    Learn what’s normal when it comes to newborn appearance and behavior.
    We’ll help you know what to expect and when to worry (hint: most of the time,
    you don’t need to).

  • Safe Handling & Everyday Care
    How to safely hold, carry, diaper, bathe, and care for your newborn with confidence.

  • Safe Sleep

       Explore ways to set realistic sleep expectations and practice safe sleep.

  • Breathing Patterns 
    Learn what normal newborn breathing looks like, how to recognize concerns

  • Fevers & Medications
    What to do when your baby has a fever, when to call for help, and how to safely give

       medications if needed.

  • Emergency Situations 101
    Clear, practical guidance on responding to infant choking and CPR

  • Baby’s First Tests & Procedures
    Routine newborn tests completed prior to discharge from the hospital

  • Car Seat Safety 
    Newborn car seat basics and how to feel confident your baby is safe 

  • Caring for You, Too
    ​Because your well-being matters just as much as your baby’s, we’ll also cover:
    self-care in the early postpartum days, navigating sleep and fatigue, visitors and
    expectations and setting boundaries and asking for support

  • Live Q&A with a Registered Nurse & Mental Health Professional
    A supportive space to ask questions and leave feeling reassured and prepared.

This class is offered in collaboration with Mind Body Soul Wellness. Led by a Registered Nurse and a licensed Mental Health Professional, this class is eligible for coverage under extended health benefits as a mental health service. Registration, payment, and insurance processing are completed through Mind Body Soul Wellness. After submitting your name and email, you will receive a follow-up email from their team to complete your registration. Direct billing is available where applicable.
