ULTRASOUND THERAPY FOR PLUGGED DUCTS

Therapeutic ultrasound is a safe, evidence-informed treatment that can help relieve persistent or painful blocked ducts during lactation.

Ultrasound works by delivering gentle sound waves to the affected area, helping to:

  • Reduce inflammation and swelling

  • Encourage milk flow

  • Improve stubborn blockages

  • Reduce pain and pressure

This treatment is often used alongside hands-on care and may be especially helpful when a plugged duct isn’t resolving with rest, feeding adjustments, warmth, or massage.

Early treatment can help prevent worsening pain or progression to mastitis.
